REDfINE SUCCESS

By Michael W Rogers

Why would someone hire you based on how pretty you are? Simple. They won’t.

Your potential clients want to know you know what you’re doing. And you know what you’re doing because you’ve been doing this for years. That’s it.

When your potential client sees your image, they see your eyes. You have 3 seconds. That’s it.

Let me explain.

So he sees your photo. He scans your photo for 3 seconds and lands on your eyes. In those 3 seconds, he is forming an opinion on whether or not he can trust you. Does he get a vibe? Let’s assume yes. By 13 seconds, he is sold on buying from you. That 3- 13-second window is where you either lose or win the sale. The next 17 seconds are for you to seal the deal by moving him from liking your pic to an actual conversation about working with you. That’s when you make the sale.

Right now, look at your headshot. Do you have your arms folded? Is your background crazy busy? Are you wearing a suit from 2015? Big fake smile? No matter how awesome you think that photo makes you look, what you’re actually telling people - intentional or not - is that you don’t pay attention to details. And details matter. When you’re talking about selling homes and managing someone’s biggest investment, details MATTER. This is what I like to call the “trust gap” and odds are, you’re paying for it without even knowing it.

Listen. I’m not trying to be rude. Direct is just how I speak. Your previous photographer likely sat down, nodded and never mentioned a word about your shoulder being droopy, why that outfit doesn’t work for you or how the photo you think would be perfect is actually hindering you from getting new clients. I will. I don’t work in your industry - and you don’t work in mine. We discuss. That’s the consultant in me. We sit down together, we discuss who you are, what you need from a photo, and why your photo matters.

No guessing. No making assumptions about what you want. When you leave my office, you will know exactly what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.

I don’t “take photos.” I bridge the trust gap. I’m going to explain to you why that black suit is shooting you down. Why your “impact” shot should be tight as hell. We’re going to work on your posture. Posture is the number one thing that ruins photos every time. I’ll be your coach. And coaches sometimes have to tell you things you don’t want to hear. That’s why they get paid the big bucks.

I started in media. 37 years of combined radio and TV experience. broadcast meteorologist. Radio DJ. Lived in Alaska and Idaho and spent the majority of my career in Maryland. Point is, I spent more than half of my life talking to people. reading people. knowing what makes them tick. Picked up a camera in 2007 and haven’t put it down since. Know what I’m talking about? When that client sees that photo for the first time, and it’s exactly what they envisioned? When they look at that photo, it matches their ambitions. That is the absolute BEST feeling in the world. seriously.

Want a nice picture? I gotchu. But nice photos get scrolled on. When your prospects can’t in less than 3 seconds know who you are, what you do and why they should care. You become OPTIONAL.

You’re selling your home. You’re dealing with people’s largest investment. AND YOU NEED TO STAND OUT. Sounds like you need a photographer who has your back.
